How to Have Courage in Times of Disappointment (continued from my blog, posted April 29, 2011)

Adoption defined, It is an act of God whereby the believer in Christ is granted the full privileges and rights of sonship, that because of it the believer experiences a familial affection with God the Father and enjoys assurance of his salvation. This is brought about by the Holy Spirit, who is called, “The Spirit of Adoption.” It is because of Adoption, the believer is a son who has an inheritance of many blessings in Christ, the least not being the final redemption of his body.  A. The rights of adoption

  1. Freedom from the spirit of bondage and slavery, Romans 8:15,

Truth- You and I before salvation were not in Christ but under sin and in bondage to sin, serving God                  out of  fear of   death and punishment.

Ephesians 2:1-3

1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,

2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

Truth-Christ’s redemption made adoption possible.

But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons (Galatians 4:4-5).

2. The Spirit of adoption-

a. He helps us to pray giving us access through and because of the work                                                                   of redemption.  Romans 5:1-3.

b... He creates and facilitates a deep affection for God the Father. Romans 8:15

c. He intercedes for us with groanings that cannot be uttered

d. He transforms us into the image of Christ and makes us more like our Heavenly Father

e. He seals us and keeps us until we have the complete rights of inheritance, the redemption of our bodies (Romans   8:23), see also Philippians 3:20, 21

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.
